PractiPix Mobile / Android + iOS
Your complete image workflow, without the desk.
Browse, review, rank, tag, edit, transfer, tether, and calculate exposure from a phone or tablet. PractiPix Mobile works independently in the field and connects to desktop only when you choose.
A real mobile workspace
Keep working when the computer is somewhere else.
The mobile apps are not passive remotes. They can hold a local library, preserve decisions, search useful context, and prepare images while the desktop is unavailable.
Browse and compare locally.
Work with device photos and albums, inspect images full-screen, pinch to zoom, compare frames, and play video without requiring the desktop app.
Rank while the context is fresh.
Use one-to-five rankings and multi-selection, then keep the picks, tags, and summaries attached to the images that earned them.
Search more than filenames.
Search stored tags and summaries. Basic offline tagging uses file and image information; configured AI can add a richer searchable description.
Edit away from the desk.
Open the mobile photo editor, review the result in context, and keep useful field decisions available for the next stage of the workflow.
Verified in the current mobile builds
More than a viewer in your pocket.
The current Android and iPhone or iPad code includes independent discovery, editing, batch production, field tools, and deliberate desktop handoff.
Find the right frame.
- Browse paginated albums, folders, subfolders, device photos, and supported video.
- Sort and filter by date, filename, extension, or star rank; search filenames and save useful searches.
- Find nearby images from GPS data, coordinates, a chosen radius, or the current image location.
Edit with touch.
- Adjust light, colour, effects, crop, rotation, masks, LUT looks, and visual watermarks.
- Use local Auto, configurable AI themes, or masked AI Object Removal when a provider is available.
- Inspect EXIF and GPS, compare original and edited views, and preserve reusable adjustment state.
Process a selection.
- Copy edits across a batch, then run Batch Auto or entitled Batch AI Auto.
- Watermark, convert, resize, rename, rank, tag, or AI-tag a selected mobile batch.
- Share, copy, move, or delete selected files with explicit conflict and permission handling.
Measure and connect.
- Meter a scene and calculate exact ND stops, nearest filters, alternatives, locks, and calibration.
- Control supported Sony and Panasonic Wi-Fi sessions; use compatible Android USB tethering builds.
- Push or pull selected images and supported metadata through manual local desktop sync.
Supported camera control
Put the live view where your eyes can reach it.
Use a phone or tablet to frame, inspect, and trigger supported Sony and Panasonic cameras over Wi-Fi. Available controls follow what the connected camera reports.
- Live view with pinch zoom, pan, and minimap
- Remote shutter and supported exposure controls
- New captures remain in the mobile workflow
- Saved camera details and connection diagnostics
iPhone and iPad currently use supported camera Wi-Fi, not direct camera USB tethering. Android USB camera tethering requires a compatible camera, device, cable, and a build containing the required libgphoto2 runtime.
Private by design
Move selected work. Not your entire life.
Send chosen desktop images to mobile, browse mobile albums from desktop, and return ranks, tags, summaries, and selected files through an explicit local transfer.
Send selected desktop images or pull selected mobile photos instead of copying an uncontrolled camera roll.
Carry supported ranks, tags, summaries, and AI settings so the next device can continue the decision.
Transfers start only when you request them. Wi-Fi uses the same trusted local network; there is no silent background cloud sync.
Field utility / Android + iOS
Measure the scene. Choose the ND filter.
The built-in Light Meter / ND tool reads the phone or tablet camera, compares your chosen shutter, ISO, and aperture, then shows exact ND stops and nearby standard filters.
Platform clarity
Know what works before the assignment starts.
Core mobile work is shared across Android and iOS. Connection methods still depend on operating-system access, the build, camera model, and hardware.
Availability can vary by operating system, app build, camera firmware, hardware, permissions, and PractiPix edition. Test the intended connection before critical work.
Mobile questions
Straight answers for field work.
The important mobile limitations are part of the product description, not hidden in fine print.
01Does PractiPix Mobile work without the desktop app?
Yes. Android and iPhone or iPad can be used as standalone image workspaces. You can browse local photos, review and compare images, rank, tag, search, edit, and use the Light Meter / ND tool without a desktop connection.
02Does PractiPix automatically upload or synchronize my photographs?
No. Desktop-mobile transfer is manual, local, and opt-in. Wi-Fi transfer requires both devices on the same trusted local network and the mobile app to be available. It is not a background cloud synchronization service.
03Which cameras can be controlled from a phone or tablet?
The current mobile tether workflow supports compatible Sony and Panasonic cameras over Wi-Fi. Live view, remote shutter, and settings such as ISO, shutter, aperture, white balance, focus mode, and exposure compensation appear only when the camera reports support.
04Can I tether a camera over USB?
Android camera USB tethering is available only when the build contains the required libgphoto2 support and the connected camera and Android device cooperate. Direct camera USB tethering on iPhone and iPad is not currently available; use supported camera Wi-Fi instead.
05What moves between mobile and desktop?
You can send selected desktop images to mobile, browse mobile albums and thumbnails from desktop, pull selected mobile files, and synchronize supported ranks, tags, summaries, and AI settings. Transfer remains a deliberate action rather than an invisible background process.
06How does the mobile ND calculator work?
Open App, then Light Meter / ND. The live rear-camera view estimates scene brightness while you choose the target shutter speed, ISO, and aperture. PractiPix shows the equivalent shutter, exact ND stops, the nearest common ND filter, and useful alternatives. It does not currently push those settings to a tethered camera.
Take the workflow with you
Start on mobile. Continue anywhere.
Choose an available Android or iOS build, test the workflow against your own photographs, and connect a desktop only when it makes the job easier.
